The Air France Girl...3
"I am feeling bored and am not feeling sleepy" - she said. "Excuse me, you said something to me" - I said (confession : she actually said it to herself, but I heard it, clever me :D). It was 3 am in the morning as per Indian time and she was not feeling sleepy. "Are you nervous?" I asked her. She said - "yes, kind of, I am about to meet a guy in Atlanta, whom I might get married, a Software Engineer". "Like me" I thought. So, I was close. "I can tell you what guys look into a girl when they are getting married", I said (confession : I wanted to share with her my perspective, which I had till that day shared only with my maa, in fact I was dying to share that, to be precise).
"Do you have a girlfriend?" She questioned me blatantly. "No, but I am a guy right?" A twinkle had come in my eye. She was disinterested. She said "Thanks" and wore back her headphones.
And the flight landed in Paris. In the meantime, we had talked a bit more about our families etc. She was going to her sister's place in Atlanta where she was about to meet a guy. She did not disclose me his name till that time. She had taken up masters in United States earlier and had worked there till recession struck. After that she left for India. She also disclosed (I dunno why), that she had a boyfriend in India earlier, who actually left her exactly on her birthday. I have been a very patient listener, so I was bearing her cessation. I thought - "That guy must have been a moron, for sure" (confession : It was good he left her ;)). Had I started to empathize with her? I think so. I felt that she had been very lonely after that. (confession : Just as I was, sigh!). I brushed a lot of thoughts which were driving me towards her. "Come on man, she is going to meet some guy" - I thought.
